Are you interested in knowing more about downtown Greensboro? Sherry Adams, DGI Vice President, is offering hospitality training classes. The training is targeted for those who come into contact with our City’s thousands of visitors as well as some who have lived here for many years but may not know the downtown amenities. Classes will be held July 24 from 3-5 pm Suite 609, 122 N. Elm Street (Self-Help Building). The cost of the class is $5.00 per person and you will receive a packet of helpful information as well as a Certificate of Completion. Downtown Greensboro Inc. is very pleased to announce NEW President and CEO, Mr. Ed Wolverton began his position with DGI on December 3, 2007. Mr. Wolverton was the President of DGI from 1997-1998 and has twenty-two years of downtown and economic development experience and currently serves as the President of the Wichita Downtown Development Corporation in Wichita, Kansas. During his tenure in Wichita, their downtown has attracted over $450 million in new investment including new offices, condominiums and public space. The proposed Greenway is more than four-mile downtown loop that would connect with the existing Battleground Rail Trail and provide a biking/walking trail in and around downtown. This initiative is a collaborative effort between Moses Cone - Wesley Long Health Foundation, Action Greensboro, Downtown Greensboro Inc., and the City of Greensboro. With funding from Moses Cone - Wesley Long Community Health Foundation, Cooper Carry, Center for Connective Architecture is currently working an initial schematic design.
