International Civil Rights Center and Museum - Grand Opening

The International Civil Rights Center & Museum will open Feb. 1, 2010, and function as an archival center, collecting museum and teaching facility devoted to the international struggle for civil and human rights. Grand opening events as well as to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Greensboro sit-ins include a Town Hall Forum and Celebration of Unity Service, Official Ceremony and Ribbon Cutting from 8:00-9:00am at the Museum block, followed by a March at Noon. Around Downtown in 80 Minutes

Get Ready. Get Set. Get Downtown For a GREAT Adventure on 2/5/10. In conjunction with Triad Stage's next comic production 'Around the World in 80 Days,' Triad Stage will host a scavenger hunt/passport in the style of the 'Amazing Race,' in collaboration with Downtown Greensboro Inc. Registrants will visit sites across Downtown to get a passport stamp and then return to Triad Stage for a reception and prizes. The first 3 teams back with the most points win! First Friday

First Friday is an exciting evening escape in the heart of Greensboro. Join in First Friday of each month in 2009 for a fun-filled exploration of Greensboro’s creative Downtown. Enjoy a self-guided tour of local art galleries and studios, retail shops, and alternative arts venues will host special events, demonstrations and give visitors an opportunity to meet featured artists. Center City AM Briefings

Learn more about the very latest of downtown happenings and meet your neighbors and learn what's going on in Greensboro's Center City. This bimonthly meeting hosts a breakfast forum bringing together residents, organizations, businesses and downtown stakeholders to share information, support downtown businesses and provide programs related to downtown's development. This meeting is free and open to the public held on the second Tuesday every other month from 8:00-9:00am. Breakfast and Networking at 7:45 am. BB&T Beach Music Concert Series

2010 BB&T Beach Music Concert series will run every Thursday from May 13 to June 24 at Kathleen Price Bryan Park (Festival Park) from 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm. This year, the event will again include free food from some of Triad’s best restaurants at the Southern Foods Beach Music Bistro! NC StoryFest

The 6th annual NC Storyfest, returns to downtown Greensboro, North Carolina on Saturday, May 22, 2010 from 12noon-6:30pm gathering top talent to share stories. The festival features a cast of internationally-renowned headliners featuring Blues storyteller Logie Meachum, Cuban teller Leeny del Seamons, music by The Healing Force and other featured guests, educational workshops, Youth Tellers, and a "Swappin' Ground" where you can share your own stories.
