Parade of Decades

Greensboro’s Bicentennial parade will celebrate 200 years of Greensboro’s history and look to its future.  Elements will include marching bands, neighborhood groups, historical characters, and much more.  Parade is in downtown and starts at 11:00am, additional information to follow on parade route at a later time.  Read more

N.C. Storytelling Festival - Preview Party

NC Storyfest will host a Preview Party on Friday, May 16 from 5–9 p.m. Headliner David Holt, and regional storyteller, Cynthia Moore Brown, will host the evening and showcase their spine-tingling collections of ghost stories at Festival Park.  Laurelyn Dossett & Friends will provide musical entertainment as well. The party is for all ages. Preview Party passes cost $10 per person or $25 per family. At 9 p.m. there will be a Story Blues Cabaret with Bump and Logie.  Admission to the Story Blues Cabaret is $5 (or free if you purchased a Preview Party pass). Take advantage of on-site food and drink vendors including beer and wine or visit one of the 45 places to dine in downtown Greensboro before or after the show!

N.C. Storytelling Festival

A free event featuring professional, amateur and young storytellers. Family oriented, this is not for children ONLY, if you enjoy storytellers like Garrison Keillor, Andy Griffith and Bill Cosby, you will love this festival. The event will take place on May 17th from 10am-5pm in various locations downtown. Beach music series Thursday evenings 5:30-8:30pm at Festival Park.  Take a trip to the beach downtown at Festival Park, admission fee to benefit the Children's Home Society of North Carolina.  Lawn chairs, blankets and dancing shoes are welcome.  Parking accessible in surrounding streets and City parking decks. A cooperative project with UNCG, this archaeological survey of Blandwood, a National Historic Landmark in downtown Greensboro, offers the unique opportunity to research the culture of early Guilford County life.

Art & Vine

NEW wine and art festival downtown features local vineyards such as Allison Oaks Vineyards, Bannerman Vineyard, Childress Vineyards, Creek Side Winery, Grove Winery, Hinnant Family Vineyards, Stonefield Cellars, and Weathervane Winery. This festival will bring live jazz and bluegrass music, sampling from local restaurants, and art from local galleries. Goulash!

The Greensboro Youth Council will host their 22nd annual Ghoulash! Halloween Festival in the Downtown Cultural District. This is a safe and fun event for all of the family and it’s FREE.  There will also be lots of other activities, various fundraising game booths, tons of great festival food and loads of FREE CANDY. This event will be held at Downtown Greensboro Cultural District on Church and Davie Streets (Festival Park area).

Festival of Lights

Take a stroll down Elm Street to see the winter wonderland, decorated windows with the annual Festival of Lights celebration from 6-9pm with a musical stroll on Elm Street with children's activities and community tree lighting.
