Report to the Community:  Downtown Greensboro Inc. presented our Report to the Community on Thursday September 21 at The Empire Room.  President Ray Gibbs gave an overview of downtown’s progress, upcoming projects and what to expect in the upcoming year.  Keynote speaker Ari Maron with MRN Ltd. of Cleveland, Ohio gave his success story on public/private partners for urban districts unique to the market.

Mike Bumpass, President/CEO of Greensboro Merchants Association (GMA) and FirstPoint has played a key role in downtown advocacy and leadership, and has partnered with DGI since its inception in 1996.

 

Roy Carroll (and wife Vanessa)

2006 Downtown Person of the Year Award

 

Mr. Carroll with Carroll Investment Properties has been dedicated, diligent and instrumental with plans to turn a 16 yr. old vacant building into downtown’s first residential high rise.

Downtown Greensboro Inc. has a NEW and IMPROVED directory and interactive mapping system on our website to include ALL downtown businesses within the Business Improvement District.

This listing a FREE courtesy service to the BID District merchants, businesses, and property owners.  We are currently in the process of updating information daily; acquire photos, up to 40-word text description of business, phone no., business hours and website links.  DGI will be mailing an informational handout within the next few weeks also seeking this data information.

Center City Park Update:  Trees, shrubs, cobblestone, brick and granite are being installed in Center City Park.  However, the grand opening celebrations have been postponed due to unexpected delays. Please stay tuned for updates or visit website http://www.centercitypark.org/

Greene Street Streetscape Dedication:  Please join the City of Greensboro and GDOT as they tour the completed streetscape project and hold an official ribbon cutting on Friday, September 29, 2006 from 5-6pm to start at Phil G. ROAD CONSTRUCTION ALERT

 

DGI, GDOT and the City of Greensboro would like to inform you of the following:

 

GREENE Street Parking Deck Users:  Work may be performed on the parking deck stairwell and lobby over the weekend with cleanup on Monday. 

 

EDGEWORTH Street:  Edgeworth Street between Smith Street and Battleground Avenue roadways will be partially closed. Open for normal use within six weeks.
