LATEST NEWS   First Friday Art Hop: Don’t miss this Friday, August 4 from 6-9pm. Many of the local merchants have extended their hours for this event. Enjoy special exhibits, meet artists, hear live music or watch artist demonstrations while enjoying light refreshments. For additional info, please see last weeks enewsletter click link.   Elon Law School: The law school starts inaugural year with student orientation August 10-14 (This month!). The Semester begins on August 11. On September 19, Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Conner will visit the school and hold a question and answer session with students and faculty. For those who were lucky enough to preview the new law school, Elon University School and architect J. Hyatt Hammond did a fabulous job at renovating! http://www.elon.edu/e-web/academics/law/    Center City PARK Center City  Park There’s something for everyone at Center City Park’s grand opening. Make plans to attend the heart of YOUR downtown Greensboro in October. Over sixty volunteers have been working enthusiastically with plans for a full week of FREE events and activities designated around different themes.     The festivities are anticipated to start Friday, October 13 and last thru Friday, October 20, weather permitting. Mark your calendar for the following events.   Friday, October 13:  11:30am-1:00pm Official dedication and ribbon cutting. Join park co-chairs Ms. Alexa Aycock and Mr. Jon Bell, along with park project initiator Action Greensboro, and many dedicated volunteers and organizations who’ve worked diligently over the past four years to make this park a REALITY!   Saturday October 14:  All day Join in a full day of activity with a walk/run event for children and adults, followed by a day full of family oriented activities. Ph: 373-2043.   Get Down!Town:  Look for info. on next week’s enewsletter.   Downtown Development Advisory Committee (DDAC): The next meeting is scheduled for August 8 to be held at 9:00am in the plaza level conference room of the Melvin Municipal Office Building (MMOB) and is open to the public.   ROAD CONSTRUCTION ALERT   Edgeworth Street:  GDOT and the City of Greensboro would like to advise of intermitten lane closings on Edgeworth Street between Smith Street and Battleground Avenue starting on Monday, August 7 at 9am.     On Wednesday August 9 at 9am, Edgeworth Street will be CLOSED in its entirety for approximately one (1) week.   Motorists are asked to follow the detour signs.    The affected roadways are expected to be open for normal use within six to eight weeks.
