Downtown is ALIVE with holiday festivities, the shops, restaurants, theaters, and nightlife are full of holiday excitement and entertainment. Take a stroll down Elm Street to see the winter wonderland, decorated windows and newly completed Center City Park. Friday, December 1st is a LANDMARK event, you are invited to attend the Center City Park's Ribbon Cutting Ceremony from 11:30am to 1:00pm. This is a signature park like no other, stop by and marvel at the new heart space of our City. Make plans for later in the day to join in the 18th annual Festival of Lights celebration | from 6-9pm with a musical stroll on Elm Street with children's activities and community tree lighting at Hamburger Square and much more. Many shops have extended hours for this event. Saturday, December 2nd brings the Holiday Parade downtown at noon with Santa, giant balloons, holiday floats, and lots of fun for kids of ALL ages. An O. Henry Christmas (12-1 thru 12-10): The Greensboro Historical Museum teams up with the City Arts Drama Center and their performing troupe, the 3rd Stage Theatre Company to present, An. O. Henry Christmas. This is a wonderful retelling of some of O. Henry's best loved stories in a time of caring and giving. Showtime: Thu-Sat at 8:00pm, Sat-Sun at 3pm. Ph: (336) 373-2043. 
Christmas with the Embers (12-8): The Embers started making music playing a mix of rhythm and blues and heart and soul that came to be known as Beach Music. Nuncrackers (12-6 thru 12-16): At the Broach Theatre, a musical by Dan Groggan, one of the funniest NUNSENCE plays that have come out of series. Showtimes Wed-Sat 8:00pm and Sunday at 2:00pm. Jolly Gingerbread Houses (12/13, 12/14): Join in creating gingerbread houses out of fun candy and treats for you to take home and enjoy from3:30-4:30pm (registration required). Blues Christmas (12-8): returns to Solaris on Friday December 8th.with the Blues Board and headliner band The Stovepipes (third place winners of the 2006 PBPS Blues Challenge). Blue Christmas is ready to raise the roof and shake the walls with guitarists, saxophonists, harmonica and drums.
