DGI welcomes back Ed Wolverton!

 

Downtown Greensboro Inc. is very pleased to announce NEW President and CEO, Mr. Ed Wolverton to begin his position with DGI on December 3, 2007.

 

Mr. Wolverton was the President of DGI from 1997-1998 and has twenty-two years of downtown and economic development experience and currently serves as the President of the Wichita Downtown Development Corporation in Wichita, Kansas.  During his tenure in Wichita, their downtown has attracted over $450 million in new investment including new offices, condominiums and public space.  Mr. Wolverton has worked on a wide range of projects in Wichita including the construction of a $205 million downtown arena, voter referendum initiatives, a $130 million mixed use development on a 25-acre downtown site, creating Tax Increment Finance Districts and a regional planning effort that resulted in a prestigious award from the International Downtown Association (IDA).

Join for Pink in the Park this Friday at Fridays By the Fountain, October 19 from 11:30am to 2pm. Pink in the Park is a breast cancer awareness event sponsored by The Breast Center of Greensboro Imaging that’s free and open to everyone, not just women!  Stop by Center City Park in downtown Greensboro to get some great information about breast cancer awareness and visit some of the exhibitors in the park.

 

There will be live music by the Dave Fox Group, flu shots, free chair massages, free paraffin dips and many other activities.

You can even participate in Call & Tell and be entered into a drawing for a fabulous prize from local spa!  Other door prizes will also be available, so come and invite your friends and spend time at Pink at the Park.

Natty Greene’s Brewing Co. has a new bottling line that is currently in distribution to major retailers such as Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods, and Fresh Market.  You can now get your favorite local brew in six pack form at one of your local supermarkets.  Fresh local brews available for distribution are Buckshot Amber, Guilford Golden, Old Town Brown and new Southern Pale Ale. Ghost Stories at Blandwood, 447 W. Washington Street on 10-20 and 10-27 at 7:00pm. Come spend a spine tingling evening listening to local storyteller Cynthia Moore Brown tell ghost stories under the cover of darkness in the front parlor of Blandwood.  Stories are appropriate for school age children.
