Countdown – 15 days!

GET DOWN!TOWN  The 6th annual Get Down!Town comes back to Hamburger Square in revitalized downtown Greensboro this year on September 8. This free, outdoor fest is a hearty welcome back to students attending colleges and universities in the area and will feature local and national acts including three bands and the first ever Greek Get Down Step Competition at two venues, The Signature Property Stage and the Natty Greene’s Stage. 

 

From 6-11pm, see free entertainment and sample food vendors, giveaway booths and two beer gardens selling Natty Greene’s and Budweiser beer. 

 

From 7pm until 2am, downtown restaurants, bars and some retail shops will offer extended hours and special promotions for event attendees during Downtown After Dark.

 

Transportation is available through HEAT and GTA buses running as late as 3am and students of HEAT partner schools can ride for free using their student ID or a school issued HEAT fare card.

Get Down!Town - appearing first in a line-up of four acts are The Mantras.  Natives of Greensboro, this band of five play to the tune of a rock, fusion, jazz and funk mixture that is progressively making them known as one of the top acts in the Southeast.  Their eclectic sound that can be heard on their self-titled, debut album earned them the top spot at the 336events.com Battle of the Bands competition.  To find out more about The Mantras and their tour schedule, visit them at www.themantras.net.

Sunday in the Park

at Center City Park

 

1.  Sunday in the Park (afternoon) this Friday August 24, a free afternoon of family summertime fun and entertainment. Bring your kids, family, friends, dog, and come out to the park and enjoy music, games and entertainment for all ages from 2:00-5:00pm.  Kids activities, crafts, letters to the Troops. This month's entertainment is:

 

·      2:00-3:15pm Highway 61 Bluegrass

·      3:45-5:00pm Steel Magnolia

 

High Lonesome Strings Bluegrass Association will be hosting Jam Sessions around the park in the afternoon. 

 

2.  MUSEP Downtown! Music for a Sunday Evening in the Park (MUSEP) performance at Center City Park (Evening). The summer concert series provides free Sunday evening concerts covering a broad range of musical styles and musical delights for all ages in the community.  MUSEP hosts wonderful music by local bands in some of our city’s most beautiful outdoor settings. This Sunday MUSEP will be at Center City Park, with the following entertainment:

 

·      6:00pm Brice Street                      

·      7:15pm Martha & Moodswingers
