| LATEST NEWS | Greensboro's Bicentennial celebration is underway. Torch Relays are taking place March 25-28 through various neighborhoods. Relays begin at 4:00pm and end at 7:00pm each day. The routes for the rest of the week are: Wednesday (3-26), the torch starts at Bennett College and ends at the McGee Street roundabout where there will be unveiling of ten foot statue of General Nathanial Greene. Thursday (3-27), the torch starts at Guilford College and ends at the Bicentennial Gardens. Friday (3-28), the torch starts at Guilford Courthouse National Military Park and ends at NewBridge Bank Park for the official opening ceremony. . . OPENING CEREMONY: The excitement will build as the torch is carried into the stadium. This event will feature a variety of children's games, historical representations, music by local artists including Wally West, and fireworks. Lisa Dames will headline the entertainment as the torch officially lights the cauldron and the celebrations begin. Bring your family, friends and neighbors to this event. Tournament Town Goes Downtown! The Tournament Host Committee of Greensboro will have many events in the center city in conjunction with the NCAA Women's Division 1 Basketball Regional Tournament at The Greensboro Coliseum. On Saturday, March 29th, Tournament Town Goes Downtown Block Party will feature a concert performance by THE BRAVERY. The concert will be held in the Hamburger Square area (McGee & Davie) of Elm Street in downtown Greensboro. The shop offers a unique collection of home furnishings by Habersham, bed linens, pajamas and dishes by Pine Cone Hill, and bronze and semi precious stone jewelry. Owner Mary Wasse chose downtown Greensboro to open this second location after operating a Mary Contrary in Southern Pines for several years. Store hours are Tuesday thru Saturday 11am-6pm.
