M’Coul’s Public House will present its annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival on Monday, March 17, 2008 in downtown. M’Coul’s will open early on St. Patrick’s Day with a sunrise bagpipes greeting at 6am and a special Irish Fry breakfast from 6am to 11am.  The 14-hour block party begins at 12 noon and features live music and entertainment throughout day. This year’s street festival will include McGee Street (between Elm and Greene Streets) and the Elm/McGee city parking lot.

 

The schedule is as follows:

 

·    6-11am: Breakfast with 98.7's Wicker in the Morning

·    7am-7pm: Bagpipes by Christoph Kresse

·    12pm- 2:pm'ish: Jason Marc Pierce - Celtic music

·    2pm-4pm'ish: Dakota Joe

·    4pm CORNHOLE TOURNEMENT!! Sign-up with any Burro bartender ($5 fee)

·    4:30pm-7:30pm Walsh Kelley School of Irish Dance

·    7:45pm - 8:30pm: 6th Annual Limerick/Toast/Song Contest

·    6pm-8pm: Patrick Rock Band

Central Business District ABC Recycling Cans: The City of Greensboro Solid Waste Division started delivering ABC recycling cans within the Central Business District on Wednesday, March 12.  These cans are Blue in color and are only for the CBD. This is in accordance with new State law to recycle.

 

The State recycling commercial glass law is in effect for 2008, State level requirement for holders of certain ABC permits (liquor license) to recycle all beverage containers went into effect on January 1, 2008.  This bill does not affect everyone with a liquor license but it does affect nearly all bars and restaurants.

Triad Idol final event was held at the Carolina Theater on Sunday March 9, 2007. The Community Theater of Greensboro is proud to announce winners.

 

·        Callan Loflin, 11, of Denton, was crowned the Triad Idol in the 8-12-year-old age group. She attends South Davidson Middle School. Callan sang, “Carolina Girl.”

·        Daniel Reid, 16, of Greensboro, was crowned the Triad Idol in the 13-18-year-old age group. He attends Southeast Guilford High School. Daniel sang, “Stand.”

·        Gayle Brooks of Greensboro was crowned the Triad Idol in the 19-and-older age group. She works at Guilford Performance. Gayle sang, “Fools Fall in Love.”

The Community Theatre of Greensboro is located at the Cultural Arts Center, 200 N. Davie Street, fourth floor. CTG is the oldest arts organization in Guilford County, soon to celebrate its 60 year anniversary in 2009.

AUDITIONS Are being held March 31 and April 1 (Mon-Tue) for  Periphery. In celebration of Greensboro’s Bicentennial, the play celebrates the historic events surrounding the Woolworth's Sit-In on February 1, 1960, and focuses on how "the Greensboro Four's" heroic action affects a diverse group of ordinary Greensboro citizens.
