Greensboro’s Bicentennial celebration continues with Heritage Festival Weekend, the festivities start downtown this Saturday April 12 and runs thru Sunday, April 13.   “Weekends like this happen only once every 200 years!”

Grand Re-Opening Ribbon Cutting

April 4, 2008.

 

The Heart of Living Home Gallery opened at its new downtown location at 320 South Elm Street with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on April 4, 2008.

 

Owner Meg Sternberg carries a wide variety and unique blend of art mediums, with an exceptional collection of original artwork by local and regional artists. Artworks displayed in combination with selected fine furniture and accents in a setting that promotes creativity in home furnishings to enrich and inspire home design.

 

Visit the gallery Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm, and on First Fridays between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm. Monday hours are by appointment only.  Find It | Map It

 

 

 

 

 

Hospitality Training:  Are you interested in knowing more about downtown Greensboro? Sherry Adams, DGI Vice President, is offering hospitality training classes. The training is for workers who come into contact with both out-of-town and local visitors.  Classes will be held April 24 and July 24 from 3-5 pm Suite 609, 122 N. Elm St. (Self-Help Building). A walking tour is part of the training so wear comfortable shoes! To register, contact 336-379-0060, ext. 21, $5 fee, seating is limited.

 

Just Be: Retail gallery featuring jewelry, art, and handmade gifts, completed its store expansion and re-opened on Saturday, April 5.  Owner Christina Brown added 30 new artist lines and a children's clothing corner.  The shop will also host art shows every second Saturday through fall.  This Saturday, April 12, will showcase local artist LeAnne Pizio and her paintings, pottery and sculpture from 6-9pm.  Find It | Map It

 

Purple Lotus yoga studio moved to its new location at 117 E. February One Street in early March.  Find It | Map It

 

Downtown Greensboro Inc.’s Clean and Green Team will be installing drought-tolerant hanging flower baskets in May. The baskets will also comply with all current water restrictions. Also, please be sure to contact the Team at 379-0060 Ext-29 if you see ash receptacles in need of attention, new graffiti or other cleanliness issues within the business improvement district.

PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT

re: Theft of Copper from HVAC

 

According to the Greensboro Center City Resource Team (CCRT) there has been some theft of copper wiring from air conditioner units within the downtown central business district. The CCRT has asked that if you see any suspicious activity please call 911 immediately to report. They also advise for you to check your A/C and if it has exposed copper wiring to consider painting the wiring white.
