Red Dog Farm Animal Rescue First Friday Many downtown retailers and galleries extend their hours until 9pm on the first Friday of the month. This is a free open house opportunity to meet artists and merchants and experience goods and services unique to Greensboro while enjoying a pleasant stroll through downtown. Look for special shopping offers, refreshments and live entertainment. · Ambleside Gallery hosts Watercolor Society of North Carolina. The exhibit opens 8/28 and will showcase some of the finest watercolorists in North Carolina. Reception will be held in conjunction with First Friday on 9/5 from 6-9pm. Stop by and see exciting new show and enjoy artwork, music refreshments and live music. WSNC is a professional non-profit organization that promotes watercolor statewide, conducts workshops by nationally recognized artists and supports arts education in NC public schools. This event features pottery artist Courtney Martin, blown glass artist John Geci, original custom animal portraits, themed animal art from fine local artists and other art mediums such as handmade jewelry, accessories and art. A few rescue animals will also be present to show their love and appreciation. A portion of all artwork, pottery and glass sold will go toward the Red Dog Farm Animal Rescue Network. · Get energized! Joelle Nealy, manager for Greensboro’s Ten Thousand Villages, will discuss benefits of fair trade and how three artisan groups she met on a recent trip to Asia are working with a fair trade company to affect the lives of those artisans.
