The community is invited to a self-guided tour of local art galleries and studios, museums, retail shops, restaurants and alternative arts venues beginning the First Friday of the New Year, January 2, 2009. From 6-9pm, many of the participating locations will host special events, promotions and demonstrations and some venues may offer extended hours past 9pm and refreshments. Dozens of downtown restaurants will also be open offering regular hours. The newest addition to the center city is the organic pizza shop, Mellow Mushroom at 609 S. Elm St. Be one of the first to experience this pizza sensation. First Friday, a once-a-month event Downtown that will continue through 2009 on every first Friday of every month from 6-9pm.
