PUBLIC NOTICE

PARKING TICKETS

The City of Greensboro is giving parking violators a free pass on paying any late fees. The Parking Ticket Amnesty program, which Greensboro City Council approved at its November 18 meeting, allows drivers to pay all outstanding parking tickets minus the burden of the late fee. The program will start December 1 and end December 31.

Most tickets start at $5, but a $25 fee is added if the ticket isn't paid within 45 days. Multiply that by numerous tickets and violators could have a hefty amount to pay. Under the Parking Ticket Amnesty program, any outstanding, unpaid and overdue parking ticket penalties will be forgiven if the City receives the full payment of the original ticket by December 31.

After the amnesty ends, the Greensboro Police Department will start towing cars that have at least three tickets more than 90 days overdue. Drivers won't be able to retrieve their cars until the fees are paid.

For more information on the Parking Ticket Amnesty program and payment options, call (336) 373-2503. Also, you can pay your parking tickets on the Internet with the City's new online parking ticket payment system. Visit www.greensboro-nc.gov for more information.
