Accelerating The Momentum Downtown Greensboro Inc. (DGI) presented the fourth annual Report to the Community on Thursday, September 18 at The Empire Room. President Ed Wolverton and chairman of the board Bruce Cantrell, gave an overview of downtown’s progress, upcoming projects, Annual Report, unveiling of Strategic Plan and what to expect in the upcoming year. Chester Brown, former chair, dedicated meeting in honor of board member Jim Roach. Keynote speaker Bill Carstarphen recounted success stories on public and private partnerships for rail design and redevelopment of urban environments. Ray Gibbs, 2008 J. Edward Kitchen Downtown Leadership Award John Lomax (not present) was honored with the 2008 Downtown Person of the Year award and Ray Gibbs with the 2008 J. Edward Kitchen Downtown Leadership award. A Rainbow of Quilts The Piedmont Quilter’s Guild presents “A Rainbow of Quilts” from 9/26 to 9/28 at the Downtown Marriott. Committed dignitaries for the 11:30am ribbon-cutting include Greensboro Mayor, Yvonne Johnson, Carolina Bank President, Bob Braswell, as well as Greensboro Chamber of Commerce representatives.
