The Greensboro Children’s Museum has daily specials of Bee Boppin Busy Bees Monday, Tunes and Tales Tuesday, Workout Wednesday, Art Connects Thursday, Fantabulous Friday, and Family Fun Friday Nights.  FREE with membership, admission $6.00 per person (Adults/Children 2yrs+), under 1 yr (Free), Seniors/Military ($5.00/person). The museum’s special events this week:

 

·         GCM celebrates the Olympics! Saturday and Sunday, August 9 & 10.  Kick-off festivities start with a fun torch parade, events continue throughout the day with wacky relays, zany competitions and many more fun activities.  Free with admission or membership. 

 

Every Week, Every Wednesday:  This Wednesday, August 13 features free music from Kris Ferris  (pop/folk) from 11:45am–1:15pm at Center City Park.  Music Every Week, Every Wednesday through October 29. 

 

For Train Lovers of All Ages! A film screening of “On Track” offers a historical look at the way trains have always been tied to our culture. The charming story of Emily and Jacob and their ties to the railroad will appeal to train lovers of all ages. This locally created film features many Greensboro residents in a variety of roles spanning 150 years of history. Sponsored by the Greensboro Bicentennial Commission, admission is FREE, Wednesday, August 13 at 7:00pm at the Central Library/Nussbaum Room, ph: 336-273-8724.

 

Clean out your office and home supply cabinets! The 1808 Foundation will host supply drive to benefit the Teacher Supply Warehouse of Guilford County Schools on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at Natty Greene’s from 5-7pm.  Donations from individuals and local businesses will be graciously accepted. Collection times are from 10am-9pm with a special event at Natty Greene's from 5-7pm. News/Upcoming Events

 

 

LOADING ZONES DOWNTOWN Public Meeting: The City of Greensboro Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting regarding downtown loading zone parking on Wednesday, August 13, from 2-5pm. The session will be held at the Central Library and allow citizens and business owners to review proposed changes and provide feedback. The meeting will be a “walk-in” format with staff available to answer questions and provide assistance anytime during the three-hour period. Parking is available in the Church Street parking deck with free validation. For more information on the loading zone meeting, contact Michael Cramer at 373-2568.

 

Wyndham Championship Block Party: FREE Outdoor Concert featuring The Breakfast Club at Hamburger Square, Saturday August 16 from 7-11pm. Part of the Wyndham Championship's week-long event schedule.  For more information, read more.
