Saturday, July 4: Parade and Street Festival, parade starts at 9:30am with festival to follow at Cultural Arts District from 10:00am to 6:00pm. Five music stages, amusements and rides, kids crafts and games, cool midst tent, community bazaar, food, roving artists, jugglers, accordion players, historical characters, and more. Saturday, July 4: Pops Concert & Fireworks Spectacular at Grimsley High School (less than 2 miles from downtown). Gates open at 6:30pm, POPS concert from 7:30-8:30, fireworks spectacular at 9:30pm. (Rain date for fireworks 07/05, weather delays possible).  Read more

EMFfringe Festival, the best of Americana, bluegrass, jazz, rock, blues, alt country, and world music. EMFfringe returns in July for its seventh season of high energy concerts. All concerts are held at Triad Stage, 232 South Elm Street, unless otherwise noted. After Parties will occur at various locations downtown. See this week’s schedule below:

 

07/02 (Thu) EMFfringe Kick-Off Party at Natty Greene’s with Holy Ghost Tent Revival, starts at 6:30pm. This event is free of charge and open to the public. Join EMFfringe for music, appetizers, door prizes and a good time.

 

07/09 (Thu) The Chris Hicks Band at 8:00pm with After Party at Upstage Cabaret at Triad Stage with food from The Mellow Mushroom.

The Greensboro Children’s Museum (GCM) offers weekly programs such as Busy Bees Monday's, Workout Wednesday's, Family Fun Friday Nights (half priced admission from 5-8pm) as well as special programs. This week features:

 

Patriotic Parade, Friday 07/03 from 10:15am-12noon at GCM. Patriotic toddlers are invited to celebrate America’s Independence Day with a bicycle and wagon parade.  Toddlers can decorate their rides with red, white, and blue with streamers and other fun items.  After the decorating party, everyone will head around “Main Street” of the Museum for a patriotic parade and then enjoy popsicles in the backyard. Bring your bikes and wagons! Free with admission $6/ membership.

 

Groovin’, Gardenin’ & Grillin’, Tuesday 07/07 from 4:00-8:00pm at GCM. Join in the Museum’s backyard as we celebrate summer with music by Doug Davies and garden activities. Families can bring their own picnic dinners to enjoy or food can be purchased.  Free with admission/membership.

Manny’s Universal Café hosts saxophonist Travis Wilson performing songs on First Friday, 7/03 at 7:00pm. Enjoy music, desserts, food, drinks and great tunes. Also Fish-fry on Friday's starting at 12 noon.

SUMMER FILM FEST at the Carolina Theatre starts Monday, 7/06 with 32 films in eight consecutive weeks. Tickets are only $5. Shows start at 7:30pm.  This week features:

Little Miss Triad is seeking contestants for talent competition for girls 5 to 10 years of age, presented by the Community Theatre of Greensboro. Registration deadline is 7/06. The Historic Carolina Theatre presents the inaugural Carolina Kids’ Club. Each Tuesday morning in July, the Theatre in partnership with the Natural Science Center, will open doors at 8:45am to welcome in Triad children for a morning full of entertainment. Tickets include a welcome and sing-along with emcee Eric Chilton, a special presentation featuring some of the Natural Science Center’s favorite animals, and a family-friendly film on the Theatre's huge screen. The film lineup is as follows:

Gallery Nomads at the Green Hill Center for North Carolina Art highlights six galleries from Raleigh. The first in a series of exhibitions focusing on regional art centers, Gallery Nomads introduces Green Hill patrons to several of the most vibrant art venues in the Triangle and present works by over fifty artists. The exhibit runs from 6/27 to 8/29 and is free and open to the public (a $5.00 donation is encouraged).  More info at www.greenhillcenter.org
