Congratulations to Elon Law Class of 2009!

Elon School of Law Commencement: The inaugural class of the Elon University School of Law will celebrate the completion of three years of study at Commencement exercises on Sunday 5/24 at the Carolina Theatre. A Dean's Reception will be held on Saturday, 5/23, at the law school facilities in the H. Michael Weaver Building. Baccalaureate ceremonies will be held on the main Elon University campus on Friday, 5/22.

The Annual BB&T Beach Music concert series continues every Thursday through June 25 from 5:30pm-8:30pm at Kathleen Price Bryan Park (Festival Park) with some of the top headliners in beach music. Get your shagg’n shoes for this Thursday, 5/21, with the Band of Oz.  This year, the series includes free samples from some of the areas finest restaurants presented by Southern Foods Beach Music Bistro. Proceeds to benefit Children’s Home Society of NC. Tickets are $7, children under 12 free. Buy tickets at door or call (800) 632-1400.  Series scheduled lineup:

Two Eyed Tommy Bolt w/Milltown at the Green Burro on Thursday 5/21 from 8:00-11:00pm. True American Traditional Crunkgrass Two Eyed Tommy Bolt will be playing with Greensboro locs Milltown at the Green Burro followed by DJ. Located at 106 McGee St.

Art and Music Third Thursdays 5/21 at 6pm at Studio B with visual stimulation provided by TR (Tom Roughton), a performing artist who paints live with music acts, bands, DJs, etc. Using found "canvases" he combines and expresses all the elements of a show, the music, the lights, the people, and the whole experience. Admission $5 (or $3 with free Studio B membership).

Flashback Friday, 1964 - The Tribute 5/22 at The Price Bryan Performance Place (Festival Park). This world tour Beatles tribute band is recognized as the "Number One Beatles Tribute Show on Earth" according to Rolling Stone Magazine. Come out for a laid back casual evening of fun and music. Lawn chairs are welcome. Proceeds to benefit the Children's Home Society of NC. The park opens at 6:00pm, concert is from 7:00-10:00pm. Food and drink vendors will be on site. Advanced purchase tickets are $15, $20 at gate. Special offer with the purchase 4 or more tickets for just $12 each.  More info.

Greensboro Children's Museum Grand Opening of new Dental Den, Pediatric Pals & Newborn Nursery in Health Center! Celebrate the opening of the new refurbished Health Center on Friday 5/22 from 5:00-7:00pm. Children are given hands-on opportunities to learn about healthy habits in an educational way.

Face to Face 'Word of Mouth' event at Studio B, meet new friends and learn about issues concerning young people of Greensboro Tuesday, 5/26 at 7:30pm at Studio B. Face to Face, a group of young people for young people with mission to raise community awareness and promote positive change. The second in series welcomes culturally diverse and free-thinking citizens to engage in discussion about political, environmental and social topics in a casual and open environment. Enjoy Studio B’s three floors at 520 S. Elm Street, including a roof-top terrace, and a cash bar. This event is free. More info.

Plane and Pedestal presents the work of nine North Carolina artists in two and three dimensional mediums through Sunday 6/07 at Green Hill Center for North Carolina Art. Participating artist include: Lin Barnhardt, Bill Brown, Chris Horney, Kenn Kotara, Mark Casey Milestone, John Nygren, Tom Suomalainen, Tim Turner and Anthony Ulinsky.
