What’s Up Downtown

Downtown Greensboro Inc.

Downtown Design Manual (draft)

Downtown Greensboro is changing. In the past few years, new interest and development in Downtown has blossomed, creating an exciting buzz for the center city throughout Guilford County and the entire State. With increased interest in the center city by residents, property and business owners and developers, civic leaders are poised to encourage new development that celebrates and honors Downtown Greensboro’s unique character and urban setting.

Working with stakeholders and the public, Downtown Greensboro Incorporated, the City of
Greensboro, Action Greensboro and other groups have crafted a Downtown Design Manual to provide a flexible framework to promote quality design, enhance our urban character and maintain long-term compatibility.  The manual is also intended to help create a predictable investment climate in Downtown for new investors and existing business and property owners.  Download a complete copy of the Downtown Design Manual (3 MB pdf).

Downtown Greensboro Inc. will co-host a public meeting with the City and Action Greensboro to answer questions and take public comments. The meeting will be in the J. Douglas Galyon Depot’s Community Room (230 E Washington St) on Tuesday, April 28 at 6pm. The next step in the process is a public comment period that will last through April 30, 2009.  Area business owners, property owners and citizens can submit written or email comments to City staff any time prior to the date. Email comments should be directed to mary.sertell@greensboro-nc.gov.

LeBauer Physical Therapy Opens in Downtown Greensboro

Aaron LeBauer, PT, DPT, LMBT, owner of LeBauer Physical Therapy, LLC, previously LeBauer Structural Bodywork,  recently attained his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Elon University. Dr. LeBauer previously received his undergraduate degree from Duke University and holds a Certificate in Massage Therapy and Health Education from the National Holistic Institute in Emeryville, CA.

LeBauer changed the name of the business to reflect the expansion into physical therapy.  The practice employs myofascial release, a “hands on approach” that uses sustained pressure to relieve restrictions in the body that contribute to pain and movement problems. People who respond to this type of treatment include those with chronic pain, neck and back pain or injuries, arthritis, migraines, sports injuries and scoliosis among other conditions.

Dr. LeBauer says “My sessions are one-on-one using mostly my hands to treat patients.  Through the use of the hands during a session, I can feel the tight muscles and joint restrictions and help people feel better, reduce pain and connect with them on a personal level.”

LeBauer says his personal approach coupled with the offices accessibility to clients makes LeBauer Physical Therapy a rarity in the field. To provide a heightened level of convenience to clients, LeBauer continues to offer the Direct Access option where clients have the opportunity of scheduling a same day appointment depending on availability, and without previous consent from a primary physician.
