Center City Park will host Wednesday's at lunchtime series Tunes @ Noon every Wednesday from May 6 through October 21 from 11:45–1:15pm and Sundays in the Park from 2-5pm on the last Sunday of each month, May through October. Congregation leaders and members will be dressed in vintage costumes, and the service will be reminiscent of one from the 1800's including the music. Church members will be walking the distance between the two church locations for the service leaving about 5:15pm and walking downtown for the service at 6pm, weather permitting. Worshipers are invited to wear late Nineteenth or early Twentieth Century attire. Buses are available to transport members from FBC parking lot (1000 W. Friendly Avenue) to the church on West Market Street UMC (302 W. Market Street). Parking is also available at West Market Street Methodist that evening. Greensboro’s Regional Mental Health Conference with Keynote Speaker Lanier Cansler, Secretary of NC Department of Health and Human Services, Friday, April 3 at The Empire Room. | RSVP today Cansler’s presentation is part of an all-day conference titled “See the Change…Be the Change,” the Mental Health Association in Greensboro’s call to excellence for mental health professionals, civic leaders, educators, clergy, and people struggling with mental health challenges, their families and friends. The Association’s 13th annual mental health conference sessions will focus on mental health challenges faced by college students, individuals with substance abuse, people experiencing homelessness, cultural competency, and care givers, including those in faith communities and helping professions. Registration for the 8:30am to 4 pm conference is $85 per person and includes breakfast, lunch, continuing education credits, and materials.
