M'Coul's St. Patrick's Day Festival

3/17/2010 | 6:00am-2:00am

M'Coul's Public House holds its annual St. Patrick's Day Festival. The 20-hour festival begins at 6:00am and features live music and entertainment from 8:00am to the wee hours. M'Coul's opens early with a special Irish Fry Breakfast from 6:00am-11:00am. There will be giveaways, prizes, and much more! Entertainment Lineup:

 

·     8am-noon, Bagpiper Johnny Burris

·     noon-2:30pm, Jason Pierce

·     3pm-5pm, Dakota Joe

·     4:30-7pm, Walsh Kelley School of Irish Dancers

·     5pm-8pm, Simply South

·     8pm, Limerick/Toast/Song Contest

·     9pm to wee hours, DJ Yona

·     late night, Costume Contest

 

All entries for the Limerick/Toast/Song Contest must be submitted by Monday, 3/15.

Admission is $10 all day for adults 21 years and over. Children are welcome in the pub until 2:00pm and at outside venue until 7:00pm. More info.

 

St. Patty’s Day Block Party at The Pour House, 3/17/2010 | 10:30am til close

The Pour House  will be open for lunch with new menu and traditional Irish Fare along with drink specials. Live music in 2 tents starts at 8:00pm. The ORIGINAL tent will have performances by J. Timber, After the Crash and House of Fools. The TRIBUTE Tent will have performances by Envision and Plane Jane.  $5 Cover. Located at 360 Federal Place.

 

Green Drinks Greensboro

3/17/2010 | 5:30pm

Green Drinks Greensboro is hopping down S. Elm Street this month and setting up shop at the Mellow Mushroom and gather in the bar area starting at 5:30pm. It's St. Patrick's Day, so you'll have double the reason to be green! Located at 609 S. Elm Street.  More info.

 

Niblock & Gwyn Live at Undercurrent

3/17/2010 | 6:30-9:30pm

Holt Gwyn and David Niblock will be performing live at the Undercurrent. This should make for a fun St Patty's Day evening at Undercurrent Restaurant. David Niblock and Holt Gwyn have been writing songs together and performing for more that a decade. Their mix of original songs, acoustic blues, and classic soft rock and country favorites has been well received in the Triad.  Located at 327 Battleground Avenue.

 

336 Triad After Work Social

3/17/2010 | 5:30-7:30pm

Celebrate the luck of the Irish at 336’s Triad After Work Social and 4 year anniversary at Much Martini Bar. 336 will be giving away $200 or more in gift certificates and door prizes and half-off all drinks. Artist Talk with Holley Fischer, 3/11/2010 | 12:30-1:30pm. The Green Hill Center for NC Art invites you to an artist talk Thursday with Holley Fischer as part of the Embodiment Exhibition. Bring your lunch and join Holly Fischer as she discusses her hand-built clay sculptures of female torsos. Event is free and open to the public. Located at 200 N. moe. in Concert, 3/11/2010 | 8:00pm.

moe., a preeminent progressive rock band on the music scene today is at the Carolina Theatre. In a remarkable career that's touched upon three decades and produced  17 albums, the quintet of Al Schnier and Chuck Garvey on guitars and vocals, Rob Derhak on bass and vocals, Jim Loughlin on percussion and vibes, and Vinnie Amico on drums continue to push the standard for performance art. Julie Schurr Live Music/Comedy Performance, 3/12/2010 | 10:00pm.

Nationally touring indie rock musician Julie Schurr will perform her unique fusion of indie rock and comedy at the Time Out Saloon. Her Greensboro performance will include acoustic music from both her current and upcoming album as well as her unique style of audience participation and comedy. The doors will open at 8:30pm. Carolina Model Railroaders Train Show and Swap Meet, 3/13/2010 | 10:00am-3:00pm. Carolina Model Railroaders will hold its annual show and swap at the J. Douglas Galyon Depot. The event features vendors and an open house of the club's HO and N scale layouts. Tickets $5 for adults, under 12 years free. Dealers will be present. More info.

Thrown Rocks, Building Castles: Celebrating the Art, 3/13/2010 - 5/7/2010.

African American Atelier invites you to Celebrate the Art of Jacquelyn H. Mooney. Mooney's art reflects her evolution in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina by using quilting, photography, and paper collages. 20% of exhibition sales will be donated to New Orleans Artists for Haiti, a collaborative of New Orleans artists working directly with Haitian relief efforts. More info.

BUSINESS Updates

 

Mack and Mack clothing store has recently undergone a makeover. The high-end boutique has remodeled its showroom so customers can shop more easily for spring and summer ensembles. The showroom features areas devoted to complete ensembles for island weddings, formal weddings, the office, daytime outfits and more. The store no longer has its ‘sale alley,’ but at ‘red ribbon’ sale. Ribbons are tied onto random hangers, indicating the items are 50 percent off. Located at 220 S. Elm Street.

 

Center City Bar & Grille will be changing menu and offer up a sandwich only purchase for those who are budget conscious or looking to forgo side and drink. Be sure to check out great daily specials on the board at the front door. Located at 219-A S. Elm Street. More info.
