Despite what the weather looks like today, Spring is coming!

 

It’s Hoppin’ at the Hopper’s this Saturday, 2/27

 

·          Individual tickets to all 2010 Grasshopper home games go on sale Saturday, 2/27 from 9:00am-2:00pm at New Bridge Bank Park. The Box office opens from 9:00am-2:00pm.  Online and phone sales begin Monday, 3/01 at 9:00am.

·          Get Major League Baseball at Minor League price, the Florida Marlins vs. Greensboro Grasshoppers on Saturday, 4/03 at 3:00pm and season opener. Gates open at 1:00pm, all seats $10, lawn tickets $8. Tickets will go FAST on 2/27, so get in line early! 

·          Third Annual Grasshopper Yard Sale on Saturday, 2/27 at 8:30am. Visit community yard sale inside NewBridge Bank Park.

·          Want to sing the Star Spangled Banner at a Grasshoppers game? Auditions will be held on Saturday, 2/27. Get more details and download the registration form at www.gsohoppers.com

SAFETY ENHANCEMENTS at Downtown Parking Decks

 

Davie Street Parking Deck

 

In an effort to increase security for users and decrease the number of false 9-1-1 calls from the Greene Street and Davie Street parking decks, security officers will be stationed in the decks during evening hours, Thursday through Saturday.

Goodwill Fashion Show hosted by Goodwill Industries of Central North Carolina will be held on Thursday, 2/25 at The Empire Room at 5:30. A cocktail hour and runway to show how Goodwill makes it work on and off the runway.  Tickets in advance are $35.00, at the door $40.00. Young Nonprofit Professionals Network social on Thursday, 2/25 from 6:00-8:00pm at Summit Station Eatery. La Revue Negra: The Josephine Baker Story from Thursday to Sunday, 2/25-2/28 at the Greensboro Historical Museum. In celebration of Black History and Woman's History Month, Actress Ashanti White's one-woman review shares the story of the life and accomplishments of Josephine Baker. Tickets $5 at door. The Sunshine Boys by the Community Theatre of Greensboro runs from Thursday to Sunday, 2/25-3/07 at Greensboro Cultural Center. See one of Neil Simon’s best comedy performances; an opportunity to revive their vaudeville team act on a CBS ‘History of Comedy’ special sparks a reunion that has you rolling in the aisles. Admission $15-$25; Student Rush $10 for any remaining seats 30 minutes prior to show time. Group discounts for 10 or more. Flamingo Court - Life in Three Condos opens the theatre’s 23rd season, playing now to Saturday, 2/25-3/06 at The Broach Theatre. Written by Luigi Creatore, Flamingo Court, a three part ‘slice of life’ follows the nosy and endearing residents of a South Florida condo community will have audiences laughing. Harlem Nights: A Celebration of the Cotton Club on Saturday, 2/27 at Studio B. Join in transformation into the era and time of the Harlem Renaissance. See and hear the sounds of Billie Holliday, Lena Horne, Ella Fitzgerald and the music of Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong and performances by Bertha Young, Joe Robinson, Saundra Crenshaw, Phyllis Ottley and Diana Ruffin. Around the World in 80 Days main stage performance at Triad Stage runs from Sunday-Sunday, now to 3/07. Jules Verne's classic tale springs to life in this clever, fast-paced comedy for the whole family. This whirlwind odyssey that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to unexpected end.   The Snowy Day encore performance by Caldcleugh's After School Arts on Saturday, 2/27 at 2:00pm and 2:30pm at the Greensboro Children’s Museum. Enjoy an elementary student performance of illustrator Ezra Jack Keats most noted book, The Snowy Day to the stage.   The Greensboro Children’s Museum (GCM) annual Kickoff to Kindergarten Parent Days on Monday, 3/01 from 11:00am-1:00pm and 5:00-7:00pm at GCM. This free drop-in event is open to the public and was created to help parents prepare for their child’s first day of Kindergarten.  The event is co-sponsored by community partners. Located at 220 N. Kids Krafters Club Workshops at Artquest, enjoy workshops twice a month throughout the school year for kids who want to get crafty, from weaving to papermaking.  This month workshops are Friday, 3/05 and 3/19 from 3:30-4:45pm.  My Studio is offered Tuesday to Saturday from 12:30-5pm, projects for kids and adults alike the chance to try their hand at new techniques and art mediums each week.  www.greenhillcenter.org
